Weekend Film: 'Labor Day' (2013)

Sometimes I really stuck, while searching for a good film to watch. I must confess, that I'm really requiring a person if we talk about movies.
I really miss good-old films sometimes. Warm as Summer evening, light and simple, which brings some food to think.
On my long road, sitting on a bus, feeling like my legs hurting and heart jumping - I watched 'Labor Day'. This film was my beam and my teleport to something really nice.

'Labor Day' is a film based on Joyce's Maynard novel. The story tells us about Henry, 13-years old boy, caring and responsible son, a child that everyone wishes to have. Henry's mother Adele (played by gorgeous Kate Winslet) is a very unsocial person, who lost her confidence once, after dramatic life events.
On a Labor Day, Henry and Adele meet a strange man in a supermarket. Frank, the escaped prisoner, needs their help. Mother and son give him shelter. That one day and the hand of help will change lives of all three...

Cannot imagine anyone on Adele's place, except Kate Winslet. Adele is beautiful and awkward, she plays on a cello and lives a life full of day fears and nightmares. Her traumatic past can't leave her alone.
Henry is a son, husband and a friend in one person. But everyone knows that he's just a little boy, and his mom needs something else, something and someone, who can fill the void of woman's loneliness and be a father and a friend to her son.

'Labor Day' has a very good cast. Here we see Winslet with shaking hands, without or almost without a make-up looking so natural and good, that any plastic actresses with a three times changed place couldn't be even close to her, we see Josh Brolin as a caring man with a kind heart, and Gattlin Griffith, who's only on the beginning of his career, but he has a really good start.

And this little bad-ass lady conquered not only one heart, I'm sure:)

Someone would say, that this story is only for women, and I guess that one would be right. Many critics even had written a lot of bad reviews. But I guess, they did it, because they didn't perceive the whole story with Henry's eyes. Those critics really forgot how it is to be a 13-years old kid.

And I really enjoyed the pie baking scene, I must say!

Besides, for those who enjoyed the film or just find pies delicious - here is the recipe and tutorial for the 'Labor Day' Pie:)
