Paradise: Hope (Paradies: Hoffnung, 2013)

Finally we are on the last part of Ulrich Seidl trilogy 'Paradise' - 'Paradise: Hope' (available on iTunes). To be true - my small review won't be objective (continue reading to understand why:), but nevertheless - I will try to display my unprejudiced point of view.

Just like first two parts, 'Paradise: Hope' is a drama. This time our main character is a teen Melanie, who spends her summer vacation in a fat camp, while her mother Teresa (you have to remember her from the 'Paradise: Love') having "fun" with young guys in Africa, and her aunt (Anna from 'Paradise: Faith') spends her vacation reading the Holy Bible and trying to resolve some life puzzles.
Melanie is in that period of being teen, when it's just exactly the time to have a first "crush", first time broken heart, first time get drunk, smoke as much cigarettes as you can etc. So this girl is trying to fill her list with checkpoints and falls in love with a camp doctor...

For me 'Paradise: Hope' is only a half drama. If you take everything too serious - you'll sit and watch it with a fold between your eyebrows, sometimes shaking your head disapprovingly. But if you go deep inside and try to remind yourself about your "teen-time" - you'll laugh on many moments in the film (especially, when many of us had this "fat period";).

In the film there are a lot of awkward situations, and moments when your own cliche's telling you: "Oh yes, this is going to happened!", but actually - it never does. That's why I like Seidl: when you expect the most horrible results - it never happens. There's so many directors, true "drama queens", that can't live without making bad situations - the most horrible ever. Ulrich Seidl shows very dramatic and life situations, but he shows them in a very realistic way.

I'm really surprised how beautiful the cast is in every single film. And again - no soundtrack. Just sit, watch and make your own conclusions, fill the film with your own emotions.
And, of course, I really enjoyed perfect frames, beautiful scenes, hypnotizing moments.

And here's my favorite character:)) -

"If you're happy and you know it, clap your fat!"

If you try to watch 'Paradise: Hope' alone, maybe you would perceive it much more serious. But if you choose to watch it with a friend/friends, expect lots of comments, strange nostalgia and tons of jokes.

I can recommend this film, it's good, unusual, and not boring.
7/10

Did someone seen the film? What can you say? Agree/ disagree with my comments to it? It would be very nice to hear your impressions:)

P.S. You can also buy the 'Paradise' trilogy all together, here, on Amazon.
